The Sydney AMAZONS Are New South Wales’ newest and most exciting development in Women’s Volleyball in over a Decade and more information on the players, the team and their impressive photo gallery can be found on their web site at

The team will be spearheaded by Christie Mokotupu, Australian Olympian, and includes in total four past or present Australian National Women’s team players who are further supported in the roster by International origin players.

This explosive team qualified last year for the 2016 AVL tournament by comprehensively defeating current participating teams which included the Canberra Heat, UTSSU (2014 and 2015 AVL Silver Medalists’) and the Victorian Vultures (2015 AVL Bronze Medalists).

The Sydney AMAZONS aim to raise the bar on the competition in 2016 and train, play, develop and aspire to compete at an evolving International standard. The coaching systems and tactical play of the Sydney AMAZONS will be drawn from methodologies and systems applied by the World ranked No.1 USA Women’s National Team including the Coaching accreditation programs offered by the USAV High Performance program which include the science and systems developed under the ‘Gold Medal Squared’ curriculum.

The best practices of the Australian Coaching accreditation systems have also been reviewed and many of the Australian players in the team have been trained and developed under the former AIS program based in Canberra.

The Sydney AMAZONS hope to create a pipeline to ‘grass roots’ players and Club communities in NSW and help ignite , train and develop players in a ‘pathway’ and form a talent pool and hot bed of competitive female players who can contribute to the National program and help qualify an Australian Women’s National Team for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. The winner of the AVL will qualify to play in the Asian Club League Tournament.
