Coach Quote (Away Team)
"The WA Steel Women went into the Adelaide round with a lot of enthusiasm and optimism. They were up for the fight against the very well credentialed Adelaide Storm who has 4 Australian National players on the squad. The quality of the match on Saturday night was exceptional with some big blocks, hard hits and incredible defense by both teams. The girls fought hard to create opportunities and held a 2-1 lead before Adelaide switched their line up, moving one of their Volleyroo's from the setting position into the passer/hitter position. This gave the Adelaide girls much better hitting power and pushed the match into another 5 set result for the Steel. Both teams dug deep and and it could have gone either way in the end. It was a heartbreaking loss for the girls 14-16 in the 5th set, but it was an amazing game for such a young group who came away from the match with their heads high. Sunday morning is always hard to back up after Saturday night, let alone after a long 5 set match. The Adelaide Storm might have been revved up by Olympic Beach Coach Lauren Soderberg the night before, because they had too much power, experience and precision for us on Sunday. Nonetheless, it was a great weekend away with lots of continuous learning, improvement and visible enjoyment for the opportunity to play volleyball at such a high level." Head Coach Mandy Combes
