Expression of Interest for Coaches sought by Melbourne University Renegades Volleyball Club

Melbourne University Renegades Volleyball Club is seeking expressions of interest from Coaches of all levels for the 2016 State League season and beyond. We also welcome interest from aspiring Coaches for assistant coaching positions.

MURVC has been playing Volleyball in Melbourne, Australia for over 50 years. Our objective as a Club is to actively develop, support and promote women’s and men’s indoor and beach volleyball in the Melbourne University and surrounding communities and to compete in various categories of volleyball provided through Australian University Sport, Masters, intercollegiate, interclub, state, interstate, national and international competitions. As we are a university club another objective is to increase participation in the sport of volleyball at The University of Melbourne.

Players range from juniors through to seniors with skill levels ranging from social through to elite (Australian National League team representation).

We annually enter teams in State League – both Junior and Senior competitions and in all divisions. These teams have 1-2 training nights per week and have traditionally played on Saturdays.

During the University year we also prepare men’s and women’s teams to compete in the Australian University games. This may involve travel. If so, travel and accommodation costs are covered.

We also offer a social volleyball program which is campus-based at The University of Melbourne and is offered at a time that makes it readily accessible to university student participation.
In addition to social training, we also offer a social volleyball competition – Tin Alley Volleyball. This runs on Sunday nights at on campus at Melbourne University Sports Centre in Parkville.
We run a number of junior volleyball programs and conduct junior training in association with a number of local high schools.

Given the extensive range of services we provide and support, we are in constant search of enthusiastic volunteers to deliver these services.

Expressions of interest should be accompanied by a summary of prior volleyball coaching experience and qualifications, playing experience, and whether you hold a current working with children check (or willingness to apply for one prior to taking up a coaching position). Although it is not required, please let us know if hold any first aid or sports training qualifications.

Depending on the level of the position, coaches may receive a honorarium. Our coaching positions are volunteer positions.
