NEW TEAMS GET ANOTHER CHANCE TO SHOW THEIR WARES IN AVL ROUND FOUR

The Sydney Amazons, the new kids on the block in the women’s Australian Volleyball League, will finally get their chance to build on their perfect debut when they face up to a rematch with UTSSU Shield in Sydney this weekend.

The Amazons burst into the league with a comprehensive 3-0 double over UTSSU on the opening weekend of the competition, but has not been in action since. UTSSU is yet to post a win this season.

The new men’s team, the Sydney Warriors, will also have their second outing of the season, and will be looking to post their first win after losing both their opening matches against UTSSU.

In other match-ups this weekend, the VVA Vultures will host the WA Pearls and the WA Hornets, while the Uni Blues will host the Adelaide Storm at Horsham.

And in a men’s-only clash, top-of-the-table Queensland Pirates will take on the Canberra Centre of Excellence. The Pirates were triumphant in both matches against the Centre of Excellence the last time the two teams met.

The Canberra Heat men’s and women’s team, and the unbeaten Queensland Pirates women’s team, all have byes this weekend.
